Eric graduated from the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon with a strong desire to use his anatomy knowledge to help patients recover from injuries and physical discomforts. Eric strives to support people on their recovery journey as living with pain can be challenging.
Eric loves fascia and has a therapeutic approach to massage therapy using a multitude of oil-free myofascial release techniques. Myofascial release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the layers of myofascial connective tissue helping to remove restrictions to reduce pain and restore motion. These restrictions can be caused by many things including trauma, inflammatory responses, muscle imbalances, and/or surgical procedures and can severely limit functional movement. While this type of treatment can reach deep structures in the body, Eric strives for his techniques to be as pain free as possible.
Thus helping the body unwind and promoting the parasympathetic nervous system to aid in overall relaxation.
After a brief and comprehensive initial patient assessment, Eric works together with his patients to identify underlying factors causing dysfunction. The goal is to go beyond treating symptoms that will only provide temporary relief of pain.
Patient education is very important. Eric strives to help his patients understand their treatments so that they are better able to manage their bodies. This way they can continue to heal every day, not just while in for treatments.
Some of Eric’s areas of focus include: nerve pain & dysfunction, post surgery injury rehabilitation & scar care, Carpal Tunnel, tennis & golfers elbow, Plantar Fasciitis, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder), TMJ disorders (Jaw Pain, Clicking, Grinding), repetitive stress injuries, tension headaches, muscle strains and ligament sprains, sciatica & piriformis pain, whiplash, joint pain & office worker tension/pain.
